On 18/07/2025, NICE SEA Company Limited together with Class NK surveyors have conducted an inspection of the damaged side shell area on the vessel.

MV. MAERSK NUSSFJORD berthed at the port for a limited time of one day on 18/07/2025. During this short stay, NICE SEA Company Limited, in coordination with Class NK surveyors, conducted an urgent inspection of the damaged side shell area to assess the extent of repairs required.

Meanwhile, the technical team prepared materials and equipment at the workshop to be ready for immediate repair once the survey results were received.

Once the vessel decided on the repair plan, the technical team completed all necessary formalities and was present at the port, ready to commence the repair work immediately to ensure timely cargo operations and the vessel’s departure as scheduled.

Immediately after the vessel’s arrival, preparation for side shell repair was initiated, involving cutting out the damaged steel plates and fitting new Class NK-approved steel plates to restore the structural integrity of the hull. The welding work adhered strictly to the approved welding procedure specifications (WPS) under Class NK rules.

After the welding work was completed, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services were carried out to verify the welding quality and the installation of new steel. Certified NDT technicians, in compliance with Class NK standards, conducted Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Visual Testing (VT) on the repaired areas under the supervision of Class NK surveyors. Inspection reports were prepared and submitted to Class NK for approval.

Despite the vessel’s one-day port stay, all tasks were carried out in a well-coordinated and timely manner, ensuring safety and quality, while allowing the ship to proceed with cargo operations and depart on schedule.
